Runabout

August 19, 2023

While not a large scale model the first surprise of the day flew the coop from F1nutz’s farm – his latest Hot Rod creations…

Next up were some large scale BRM Alfas, BMWs and Minis… sadly I did not take photos (again)…

Then the large scale Boulevard Cruisers hit the track. Thanks to Kensredzed I had my unpainted 1967 Pontiac GTO join in on the fun along with JMSracer, Kensredzed, F1nutz and MiA. Felix’s plum coloured Monte Carlo is undergoing an extensive overhaul but Chris should have his new model ready next month.

Ken’s got his chrome pen working overtime and his three models are coming along nicely!

So far the Boulevard Cruisers are running exceptionally well using the KRZ chassis, 13×38 gearing and the rest of the parts Kensredzed suggested in one of his recent forum replies.

Overall model weight is so important to performance that we discussed having a minimum weight set. For reference MiA’s finished model with full interior sits on the lift at 163g. We should sort this out before S24 returns next month. Time will tell.

The choice of bearings vs. bushings is another consideration. These low torque Fox 10 motors don’t have the braking that many other motors do and so depending on your handling preferences you might prefer using bushings over bearings. The choice is yours but well worth considering.

Till next month – keep building! 😁
