Put me down for + 2 (JMS = 3 racers, including 2 from SOS32 that have confirmed so far)

      • #6989

JMSracer – If they have scratch32 accounts then they can register/list themselves – otherwise if they don’t just list them in your own reply above… that way everyone knows… thanks for the heads up.

If it helps – anyone out west who would like a lift to JMSracer Saturday morning just let me know – I’m happy to drive us all there…

It looks like so far we will have 5. Although some have prior obligations remember to keep in mind the spirit of the hobby generally and commitment to the group in particular.

Man am I ever having umm… fun getting cars race ready.

Anyone remember the good old days of just renting a race car from Hertz such as a 1966 Shelby GT350H? Then returning it after the weekend running on 7-cylinders because you over revved it and lost a pushrod? Oops. That wasn’t me!

Your enthusiasm is appreciated.  With 17+ classes, it generally takes new comers about a year to get cars race ready for all classes.  Bring what you have, and with advance notice there will be loaners available.

I was advised that I had replied “NO” on the SOS32 calendar to this event which is incorrect.  I had forwarded an email to a bunch of guys with the calendar attached and perhaps one of them replied no – but it was on my calendar.

So far we have five confirmed to race and two maybe’s.  The race is a 100% go with existing confirmations but hopefully we will get at least one or two more by Thursday…   There are a few on the fence.  Regardless, we are GREEN light this Saturday.

I am happy to race with five who I trust follow the rules and who are clean racers and good company… the more not necessarily the merrier – a lesson learned long ago – we aren’t entertainers or selling tickets nor is this a business, a party or a carnival – it is a gathering of friends who share the same interests and goals within this hobby.

Thank you very kindly to Jim for hosting this race! Your track is really cool! I like the twists and turns.

They may not like me as much judging by the off’s. I need to stick to slower cars for a little while.

                  Cheers,

                  Ken

Six teams made it to the track on this overcast morning to exchange friendly banter and have fun racing Classic Stock Cars, Trans Am, Group 5 and 3L LeMans cars.  Each racer ran three – 3 minute heats.  The race began after the usual practice followed by a track parade and a few quick interviews.

Congrats to the three door prize winners Rob, Joe and Chuck, who each took home a set of Dart tires.

                      1 - track parade

Two of the drivers had to be taken by ambulance to the track hospital and treated for minor injuries after a crash in the Group 5 race.   One of them was later released and continued onto the next race.

                      Hosp - 1

The second drivers injuries were more serious and he had to be evacuated by helicopter to the local hospital for further testing and kept overnight for observation.
