Returning to The Ring to kick off the remainder of the Scratch32 summer racing calendar three builders presented sixteen models covering four classes to the grid. Maserati, BRM and Ferrari would fight in 1950’s Grand Prix. Ferrari and BRM along with newcomers Brabham and Porsche would duke it out in the early 1960’s 1.5L Grand Prix. Then with larger displacement engines the later part of the 1960’s would see newcomers Matra and Eagle Weslake accompany the Japanese Honda Corporation. Finally, the 1970’s era would host a bevy of marks including Brabham, Shadow, Surtees and Tyrrell.

A new model was presented to the grid – #36 Eagle Weslake Mk1 piloted by Dan Gurney.

The grid for Ringwood XXXIV therefore lined up as follows:

1950’s Grand Prix:

Track maintenance was continuing as the green flag was about to fall, luckily the maintenance van busy distributing the last of the straw bales managed to clear the course before becoming a dangerous slow moving chicane. Pilots urged race director Fritz Stroebl to delay the start until after the work was done – in the interest of safety of course.
