Back at the Ferrari factory final preparations were being made in anticipation of the fifth running of the Internationale Meisterschaft. Crowds arrived early but the traffic was a killer.

Some had clever ideas with which to beat the traffic jam… like this Monogram salesperson who just needed a top up of that Sunoco Fuel…

Nevertheless with practice over the grids were formed and although there were enough marshals the penalty imposed for each crash would be 1 lap (or 7 seconds). The target motor for sportscar is the ‘slow’ motor or any motor performing like such. The future for the class lies with the behaviour of the pilots and their teams. Lap times over the past several sportscar events have been noted and if necessary a break-out time may be tested. But for now:

The debut of the #7 Chaparral 2F of Phil Hill would end in disappointment as mechanical gremlins necessitated a lengthy pit stop. Drew Hymenklimber in the #17 Porsche 908/3 faired much better until receiving a black flag for failing to slow down for marshals. Sergio Zerbini’s single crash may have cost him a podium but for the penalties received by others.
