Sweet. Looks and reads like a great day. Any pictures of the carnage? And what’s the tower toppling story?
Wow, 5 races and 5 podiums for Frank, including a trio of 2nds. Well done! :good:
Love the lighting on the NASCAR photos. Nothing like a sun set race!
Great debut for a new track. Thanks Jim. And great job to Jim and Art for the layout. Made for some fun racing. And who’d-a thunk the closest racing of the night would come in the fastest class!
4 for fun!
Great night, thx to our soft footed host. :good:
And thanks to Tony for the use of his controller. It made me a smoother and quicker driver. :yahoo:
You may not get it back! 😉
Thanks Art, another fun night of racing! Sorry my Jag was so loud and slow. But at least she is pretty. Hmm, reminds me of …..
And I look forward to seeing that ATV run!
Looks like another great event. Sorry I couldn’t compete with you all.
It was so close KK and I tied for 1st in the first of our three heats in one class! The software listed us as both 1st with identical times/extensions! And because we were racing together for the next two heats (we divided the field into groups of three) that heat set up barn burners for the next two – you NEVER get that when you race everyone straight through… that was the argument why the group should always race in groups of three… Wow it was fun!
That’s great sometimes, but it’s also fun to race with everyone. After all, that’s what the blue flag is for! :yahoo:
Art, thanks for arranging and hosting, fun night. But what happened to your podium results?
Another fun night of racing upstairs while below the sounds of erotic exotic teased our ears and eyes. Always great to race their and see what’s in the showroom and tucked away in the garage!
Very unpredictable night. Mustangs 1-2-3 in Trans-Am? That’s rare. A box stock Mr. Slotcar McLaren 3rd in LMP/GT. And cars with lights, both initially prepared by me, 1-2 in Group C? That’s a highlight for me!
Great day. Thanks KK, and all that braved the lake effect snow and Johnny Law!
And we orginally thought this would be a combined event. As such here are the overall results!
…………SC – CLM -GC-Rolex = Laps
1-Kevin 63 – 69 – 71 – 101 = 304
2-Jim M 61 – 63 – 69 – 98 = 291
3-Simon 59 – 65 – 70 – 96 = 290 (44.650 second 4-heat differential)
4-John 54 – 69 – 71 – 96 = 290 (63.663 second 4-heat differential)
5-Devan 59 – 67 – 70 – 90 = 286 (56.641 second 4-heat differential)
6-Frank 59 – 65 – 70 – 92 =286 (65.307 second 4-heat differential)
7-Tony 54 – 63 – 70 – 97 =284
8-Mike A 57 – 64 – 70 – 90 =281
9-Mike V 59 – 65 – 66 – 87 =277
10-Dave 58 – 64 – 60 – 89 =271Lots of fun, thanks for hosting! And love Thelma and Louis! (But I think I’ll have to amputate their legs to get them into the T-Bird!)
Drat, I think I left me Porsche insert on the track. Guess I’ll have to come to the next event to get it back! 2nd Saturday is October 10th, but that’s also Thanksgiving weekend … (which is fine by me)
Gents, with 6 racers perhaps we might consider to be more socially distant by not using one of the middle lanes? Would leave more separation among racers and allow for a 3rd marshal…..
Art, are we allowed to run a different car in each lane if we want?
Great getting back on track. Had a blast. Thanks Art!
When I don’t feel well in the morning it’s not the Covid Cough, more like the Molson Malaise!
My pleasure …. after all that’s what is best about the hobby … having everyone being able to participate and enjoy!
Some video of running a pair of cars I got from Art. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THNnadq_6I0
Didn’t know Caitlyn Jenner was going to be in attendance….
Thank you Porsche911 for hosting a great event. The stars finally aligned to give me a chance to see your excellent track. Beautifully scenerized as well; the cars on the hills off track were as interesting as the ones on. But I still want the phone number of that girl in the hot tub!

Is replacing the guides a mandatory rule, or are stock guides okay?
Luv the Mini’s … are they all house cars, or a mixture of house and guests cars.
Looking good Ken. Love the layout and love the wheeled base it’s built on. Looks very sturdy. Wonder if Art can re-do my base? Nice pit area too. Are you planning to run it in one direction only? If so, right to left by the pits? As for a name …. I’ll try to follow up with something later.
Nice …. Look forward to running on it Ken!
Ken, glad to hear you’re back at home and on the road to recovery. Look forward to progress reports on the track, and your health. The track looks great.
It’s a Monster! The Nürburgring of slot car tracks …. look forward to racing on it.

https://www.racingsportscars.com/photo/Targa_Florio-1970-05-03.htmlAnd is this an open motor race?
Thanks Art, fun to come out and race on this new, spectacular, track, and see you all. I’ll take another Saturday off soon.
If that’s doors open at 10:30 pm with overnight racing beginning at 11:30 pm I am in!
Sadly though I don’t think it is, so I will, regretfully, not be able to make it.
Love the photo montage … the track is, of course, awesome to run on … both ways. Great, great, job!
Sent my request for a table!
Sweet … make another with a raised body and F1 slicks at the back! (But be careful in corners!)
Very pretty!
A little too far for me …. and too bad we can’t go across the border as there’s a show in Cleveland the following weekend

That is is the base colour of the model. Robin’s egg blue is an apt description. Picture below, copied from the movie Paperback Hero – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ig2EL6WBEs&t=4s) is hoped for final look. Gearing right now is 12/35 in a 19mm with a BWA motor. The car is not legal for Sportscars as it is too wide and is running a sidewinder configuration with a motor pod. But our group also runs a fendered 14,000 rpm motor class so it can run there.
Thanks for the link and photo above. But way beyond my skills to create.
Nice … but a little too low for my liking. It looks like it’s ready for LA Blvd cruisin! I know it will handle a lot better, but I prefer to see cars with more realistic ride heights.
I do want to know though how you made the chassis. Do you have details/photos on that?
Sweet!
Robins Nest Blue is apt, but that’s the colour of the model out of the box. Gearing on the BWA motor is 12/34 19 mm. Not that it would be competitive, but the car is illegal for Scratch racing as the Sportscar class doesn’t allow cars this wide, with a sidewinder configuration or with a motor pod. But we run a 14,000 open class so I can run it in that if I choose. Here’s a picture, taken from the movie Paperback Hero, of the hoped for final version.
Exterior
We decided to use the existing plastic chassis by Joe messaged a slot.it sidewinder motor pod into the rear and adding a guide holding brace up front. The motor hides under the rear seat cover nicely. Paint work is pending but it will be red with a Sheriff badge on the door like in the movie.

You must be logged in to view attached files.I bought that kit a year ago and Joe Guts is converting it for me to, although it’s a different year, look like the “Sheriff” Thunderbird used in a movie my dad produced, “Paperback Hero”.
The camera platform is a FlySlot truck with a modified Scaley Range Rover mounted on top. Camera above that. Looks like a real Hollywood type vehicle. Real life cameraman and fellow slotter Adam Gladstone is one of the mad minds behind this.
January 23, 2017 at 10:04 pm in reply to: Building in Upper and lower A arms and rear and front springs etc #1979Some may not know, but our beloved officer Bob has injured his shoulder and is on meds.
So here’s the translation!
“I have been looking at some scratch build cars in F1 classes and see the detail in the front and rear suspension systems.
A Arms, springs or shocks, and the rear rods or rocker arms.
I think they really give a good looking finish to the cars and was wondering if there are any tutorials around on how to do these things .
All in the name of scale accuracy and good looking detail.”
Hope you feel better soon Bob! :yahoo:
December 26, 2016 at 9:29 am in reply to: Strombecker Body Shell Kit – Strombecker Shell Instructions – Porsche RS 61 #1834Hmm, and I have some Strombecker’s, I think, for sale! (I’ll be posting eventually)
I’d be surprised if it makes much of a difference. The design of the new pods was done to secure the motor more. Since most of us glue that in anyway, the performance should be similar. If we didn’t do any “tuning” then there might be an advantage, but I think testing will prove negligible benefits to the new pods. -
