Art,
Thanks a million for another fun day!
MVL is a very cool track.
It was good to get out of the house for the first time in weeks.
Art,
Thanks a million for the fun day!
Jim and Gary. Thank you! It was good to race with all the guys too!
Stunning track! Nice build pics. 🙂
Art,
Thank you for the opportunity to race at MVL. It’s a beautiful track!
The nicest track in Toronto.
Art was kind enough to have lunch with me last Thursday, and allowed me to spin a few laps with my cars. This track is insane!
Too bad I couldn’t make it to the first race. I reserved my table to the Group-25 show last fall.

Thanks a million for hosting another Targa Florio!
I should build a few more Targa cars.
Art,
MVL is always a blast.
Thanks for organizing this event.

Thanks a million for hosting a fun evening!
Cool cars and good friends made it a great event!
Count me in. 🙂
Who would refuse Christmas pizza?
Art,
Thank you very kindly for putting this race together. Your efforts are greatly appreciated!
A good bunch of friends with some cool cars!
Art,
Thank you very kindly for an excellent day at MVL! It was a blast!
Ken
Art,
Thank you very kindly for putting this race together. It was a lot of fun.
Also. Thank you for alowing me to run an SCCA/USSP car along side the Sportscars. I will try and refrain from doing this in the future. I never even heard of a Lotus-30 before I joined S32 in 2018. The learning curve continues.
Art,
Thank you very kindly for a great day of racing!
MVL is always a blast.
Hi Gary,
The track is new. The bench has been there for about 15+ years. I used to repair automated labellers, and all sorts of other equipment on it. It’s evolved as an unplanned retirement seems to be taking over. I’m simply going with the flow.
If you have something challenging to do and the wife is giving you the evil-eye. Bring it over.
With the bench out of the track room. We now have space for driver’s pit stations, pizza, and the whole enchilada!
My breadbox finally has a home. The Hot Rod parking sign also fits the new spot very well.
Thank you very kindly, Gentlemen.
There are many holes left in the walls that need a little putty. The posters go up right after that. Probably later tonight or tomorrow. Thanks again for the posters, Jim!
Thank you, F1Nutz.
I’m really looking forward to inviting everyone over for an official race. It won’t be much longer.
Michael, Dave, Luis, and Drew.
I humbly thank you all for your kind words.
Drew. We all inspire each other in some way. I clearly need to work on my track decor, and Porsche 906 collection. Inspired by you, and the rest of the track owners. 🙂
I agree with Jim.
Looks are only a part of the picture. This track is a lot of fun to race at too! 🙂
Art,
Another amazing creation! Beautiful to look at and race on.
March 28, 2024 at 9:49 pm in reply to: Riverhampton Photo Collage for Thursday January 19, 2023 #32746Jim,
Thanks a million for everything! It’s always fun to race at the River!
Art,
Thank you very kindly for organizing this race.
It was a lot of fun.
Art,
Thanks a million for a fun day!
Boulevard Cruisers made their debut. A very fun class!
Porsche911,
Thanks for a fun day of racing!
Always a blast to race at the Spa Lyons.
Neat workmanship. Looking forward to racing at the Ring again.
Cheers,
Ken
Art,
Thanks a million for another wonderful day of racing at Nova Ridge!
The track scenery is coming along nicely. It looks amazing!
Art,
The scenery looks amazing!
Always a pleasure to race at Nova Ridge.
Please count me in. Thanks. 🙂
Art,
It was a cool and interesting workshop. Thank you very kindly.
A very cool article MiA. Looking forward to the next one.
It’s possible that 3D printing will eventually provide you with a quality slot car body. Here’s hoping.
A very cool site.
What the heck is an Alfa Carabo 1968?! Never heard of it. I may want one of those.
Racer68 has a 3D printer.
Art,
Thank you very kindly for a great day at the Ring!
At first I was in shock because I thought it was to remain as track decor.
Looking forward to the seeing the car restored.
Jim,
That’s one beautiful looking Starliner.
By the way. I’m seeing the guy that supplied the kits later today. Tail lights for everyone may be arriving very shortly. He apparently still has them.
He may have your door handles too, Jim.
Last night Doug Crichton from Group 25 invited me over to his place. He says he has the tail light lenses, dashboards, and steering wheels for all the kits we just bought. Yay!
I said “Sure, I’ll drop in tomorrow. What’s the address?” Doug says Cambridge… Ouch! He drives to Toronto every month for the meetings. In for a penny. In for a pound.
I had a treatment that took the whole morning. Then immediately hopped in my car and spent the afternoon in traffic. It was a fun day.
But, I have all the missing parts for eleven kits except the tail lights for the Pontiac 2+2. Art was lucky enough to get that one Pontiac kit, and can probably make one custom set.
Doug and I enjoyed some model car talk. Doug’s a great guy. He’s preparing another volley of different cars in a month or two after he cleans up his basement. I can hardly wait to see what’s coming up next.
There’s also one set of chrome Starliner door handles for Jim.
I’ll hand over the dashes, steering wheels, and lenses when I see everyone.
Cheers,
Ken
Hi Felix,
What took you so long to chime in, brother? 🙂
This is still in the testing stages at Nova Ridge track only. It’s far from an official class yet.
The H&R Racing chassis, and Monte Carlo look cool.
Very nice looking body, Felix. I’ve always liked the 70 Monte Carlo.
The AMT Impala’s (all the various years) have the same wheelbase of 120mm just like your Monte Carlo.
My prototype chassis is not quite as fanciful as the H&R Racing chassis. But it works well. At this point the DArt wheels/tires, and Fox 10 motor are the foundation of this new class. The chassis can be made out of anything you wish.
What’s an H&R Racing chassis going for these days?
Another great day of racing at MVL!
A big thank you to Mike!
The beer, sandwiches, and slot cars were great fun!
Hi Felix,
Thank you for the correction. My humble apologies for the mistake.
I am curious if the PF 1300 will work with the Big Bruiser class?
You already mentioned that you are going with a Fox 10 motor. Are you able to use Art’s wheels and urethane tires on the Pla-fit chassis?
Yesterday was a great day for painting near the end of the day around 7pm. The wind finally died down.
I can no longer look at the blue paint job on the 65 Impala. The chassis will fit under this Bel Air body instead. Both cars have a 120mm wheelbase.
These pics are the inspiration for this build. Looks like I’m installing a red interior. A nice change from black.
Under the guidance of PhotoDoug. I redid the Bel Air pic, and also painted a 1966 Olds 442 W30. The weather was far too nice not to paint another car.
The model in the ad for the Olds 442 kit sparked the idea for the Tamiya Cobalt Green. It’s a beautiful colour and suits the car. My first time trying it.
It was great to try a few vintage Cox cars. They are cool in thier own way.
Even though 1/25 scale is 4% smaller than 1/24. That 1/25 Chevy Impala is a monster compared to the rest of the 1/24 cars.
I just noticed the black Hot Rod in the background of the first photo. I remember it was so tall, that it actually hit the overpass with a loud “Tock” sound. Everyone turned around and wondered what happened. We were looking for broken car parts. Nothing broke off. But there’s a large scrape on the roof, and a matching mark under the overpass.
In case anyone was wondering? Trucks likely won’t fit the Nova Ridge track.
Another fun day of 1/24-1/25 experiments at Nova Ridge. Passing requires a calculated effort to keep it clean. These are definately trading paint.
These cars are a real pleasure to drive.
My apologies to Felix. I missed taking a pic of his super cool Monte Carlo.
You’re welcome back anytime, Felix. It was my pleasure.
This is the latest addition to the Big Bruiser class. MIA brought his latest 1963 Chevy low-rider Impala out to play. It sure sparkled going down the track.
Neat looking car, F1Nutz!
I’m admiring everyone’s nicely painted cars. They all look great!
I’m pondering a colour change for the 65 Impala. Here are the factory colour choices. This narrows it down a bit. No? Only 15 colours.
I think I found the right colour. Only 3-weeks until the meet. It’s been in “Super Clean” since earlier today. I’m crossing my fingers that the old paint comes off.
I really like the wheels!
The dark blue 1965 Impala has been in Super Clean since… forever (at least 2-weeks). It has only removed some of the dark blue paint. It has thick blotches of paint that simply won’t come off. Yellow won’t cover the blue properly. The body has been put on the back burner along with the chassis until I figure this out.
I need something for the next S24 event. Luckily I have other bodies already painted. A new chassis was made last night.
An Olds 442 was considered a “Gentleman’s muscle car” back in the 60’s. With a W30 engine package, it had 370hp. Sure… a gentleman that goes sideways up the street and smokes the tires off the rims. Count me in!
The milling machine has been busy. Here’s a new Starliner chassis for Jim. One chassis for Drew’s green Impala. And another for that Ken guy.
Update on the 65 Impala. Apparently there’s something much stronger than Super Clean to strip paint from models. Easy-Off over cleaner. There’s hope for the old body yet. We’ll see shortly.
This is how the body looks after 2-weeks in Super Clean. Barely made a dent in the paint.
The hood passed the Easy-Off test with flying colours. It soaked over night. The body is now soaking in Easy-Off. The foam was already turning blue the moment it got sprayed. I am ever hopeful to eventually have a yellow 65 Impala.
Easy-Off is the ticket for old and tough acrylic model paint. Soaking overnight in Easy-Off got the body cleaned up inside and out. I am amazed.
That made it possible to change to yellow without using primer. Is it perfect? Not even close. However, I plan to scratch the paint myself while racing it. It is after all a Big Bruiser class car.
The Olds 442 fell on its roof during the painting process. It was a very windy day when it got painted. A vinyl roof was in the works anyways. The kit actually suggests it.
Lots of chrome work to go yet to make it look like the built kit.
Wheels & Wings had a sale. These were only $28. Resist I could not.
This isn’t for Nova Ridge. I am looking at smaller cars to possibly fit my track.
It comes in red plastic. It’s a two piece body. The hood opens forward. I’ll easily glue it together.
I was not aware that the 64 Mercury Marauder is a 2021 retro re-issue. Very interesting (the sound of crickets…).
I went looking for a kit for a friend. That caused me to hunt down all the kits from all the closets, nooks and crannies.
I’ve been collecting these for many years in hopes of working on a few when I retire. Never thought to make slot cars out of them. About half of them came from Marty and Cindy at very reasonable prices. Nothing is considered a worthy “collectable”.
On the bright side. My wife is happy she has her closet space back. It’s a win-win situation.
Jim,
Thank you very kindly for hosting another fun event. It was a blast!
Art,
Thanks a million for organizing these races!
It was a fun day.
Ken
Porsche911,
Thank you very kindly for hosting a fun day of racing! It was a blast.
Ken
They all ran great!
Both the “Chicken Man”, and Harland never looked better.
I’ve raced on it a few times and it’s a great track! Lots of fun!
Cool looking track DB.
Warm regards,
Ken
Scott has a very nice place up in Kimberly. The track layout is beautiful, and has a very smooth flow to it.
There is also an Air B&B cottage on the same lot. My wife is curious as to the rates (provided that it’s dog-friendly). That sounds very promising to me. Maybe I could rent the cottage for a weekend vacation, and host a BBQ just outside the building where the track is? (nudge nudge, wink wink) Maybe a race will break out.
An impromptu pic of the master track-smith at work. My humble apologies for leaving the pic as is. My knowledge of photoshop is almost zero. Sometimes the field of debri can be fun to look at. Nice pics in the background.
While driving out to Scott’s place. Art and I caught a few glimpses of some nice cars along the way. I saw a 1970 Buick GSX in red. Art saw an Olds 442. But the highlight was the Acadian Beaumont Sport Deluxe. It was tubbed out with huge tires on the back. It was screaming like it was in second gear. It had crazy high gears for drag-racing (Sounded like 4.56’s or better).
You could tell that fast cars were all over the area by the long black marks leading off many of the stop signs and lights.
It was too dark to take a pic. But this was the model we were looking at. It was a beauty!
The question came up about branding. Was it a Chevy or Pontiac based release?
From Wiki.
To promote automobile manufacturing in Canada, the APTA (also known as the “Auto Pact”) in the 1960s had provisions prohibiting sales of certain United States-made cars. General Motors responded by offering certain makes of cars manufactured in Canada primarily for the Canadian market such as Acadian, and Beaumont, which started as an offering in the Acadian line, but later became its own brand in 1966.[1] Initially, Acadians were retrimmed Chevy IIs, offered as a base model, mid-priced Invader and top-line Beaumont. The car used Pontiac styling cues, such as a split grille, but was marketed as a separate make, never as a Pontiac.
There was also a Pontiac Acadian manufactured from 1976 to 1987. But it was a very different car.
Above post has been edited.
If anyone wishes to make their own chassis to save money. Here’s a tutorial I made a long time ago.
The tutorial shows a drill press being used to make chassis. It gets the job done.
A milling machine with a digital readout makes things a little more precise these days (+- 0.001″).

That’s a very cool looking car F1nutz.
I have way too many irons in fire at the moment. But I’ll keep playing “Lotto 649” just in case. I’ll try and make more time if I win.
Just a quick update. The spray booth has been a great success. I invite anyone to bring their car and paint. Feel free to use the booth. Kindly give me some advance notice.
These came out super nice! Thanks again Art.
Art. Thank you very kindly for making this Ferrari. My kit looks amazing.
Jim just painted his, and it came out like eye candy.
Uh oh. What do we have here? Looks like a 1/43, 289 Cobra with photo etched parts. That’s 15mm square aluminum tubing from Amazon. 3/4″ inch aluminum was too wide. The motor is an FF030. The Cobra should fit this new track quite well.
Thank you very kindly for looking.
DArt Hobbies now offers urethane body washers in a larger size (4-40 or #3). There is no longer a need for the stainless steel washer (old way).
I’m slowly upgrading my old builds. I likely need to buy a lot of urethane washers.
Congrats F1Nutz!
I don’t know Art. You got a very sweet 1/24 Lancia Stratos Turbo.
Plus, you were smart enough to get the vendor’s number. You can keep on buying new cars even though the show is long over.
The only really rare kit I got was the Ferrari.
I’ve seen this Ferrari before. But only starting to learn about it now. It’s a sweet looking ride. They want crazy money for the real car today.
Very nice looking car.
Mine has been reserved. 🙂
F1Nutz. You’re more than welcome anytime. Just bring your regular 1/32 controller. I have cars.
Thank you very kindly, gentlemen.
I have to thank Art for accepting the challenge. It’s possible that I may have him hooked on HO scale now. Oops.
Gary. Who told you? Yes, a drag strip is up next. I’ve already had a test drag strip in my basement. It’s awaiting a rebuild. Unlimited HO cars go over 70mph in just 15-feet. Not scale speed. Like real 1:1 70mph.
A few more pics. The track also accepts 1/43 cars (very tight, but hilarious). Thank you very kindly for looking.
I think it’s great that you’re building cars. Every build gets better.
Great looking truck Porsche911. I look forward to seeing it run.
Before and after pics.
Tire wear made an interesting pattern of debri under the car. Only the inside of the tire had wear. Those Hudy’s are amazing.
The car handles nicely (at least I think so).
Thank you very kindly for looking.
Ken
Chi è Lewis?
Chris’s blue Ferrari is race ready. He has his numbers, and will apply them tomorrow.
Hello Van,
Great looking Chevy!
Welcome to scratch built mayhem!
Long live T32!
A reliable small group of friends with about a 95% attendance rate. Hard to find these days. I can’t remember the last race I missed. Who would want to?
Thanks to JMSracer, Art, and Cupcake!
Ken
Art,
Wow! Stunning details!
The bar has been raised.
Nice looking Ferrari’s JMSracer!
Drew,
Sharp looking car! It looks lovely in white.
Looks great DB!
Hi Luis,
Thank you very kindly. All is well.
I hope you, your family, and your coffee business are all doing great!
May I reserve number 3 please.
Porsche911,
Thank you very kindly for doing the leg work. It’s going to be the “Year of Corvairs”. I like them so much. I bought a gaggle of them.
Here’s an option…
If you buy a second aluminum chassis for any car. It will be accurate to within a few thousands of an inch to the first. You can change the chassis/motor/class with two screws. Two chassis for one body type thing. Slow and Plus+.
Just a thought.
Ken
Looking forward to an “Orange Crush” Ferrari!
Looks super great Porsche911.
If it’s NSR. It’s not underpowered by much. They stick like glue.
Gary. Congrats on the new home!!!
You need to be early to get good parking. 🙂
