Sweet wheels! Who’s the lucky recipient? :>)

in reply to: Spray Booth Number Three #44997

They do look expertly painted, interesting selections, looks like KRZ colour palate influence….

They’re yours, do what you wish! Perhaps I need to get out of my ‘traditional’ type theme, though I do LOVE then 550 spyder you created Ken in Metallic Blue, BRILLIANT! Me want 1 :>)

Looks awesome, would like to see it in use. I don’t need another hobby, I don’t need another hobby, I don’t need another hobby…… :>)

Great jousts throughout the night, with perhaps some of the closest racing ever in Classic LM, Top of the podium through 4th all finishing with same lap count, and a mere 2.3 seconds differential from 1st to 4th, with .080, yes, POINT OH EIGHT OH between 1st/2nd…I’d say that was “Layin it on the line”! :yahoo:

in reply to: January 6, 2016 – Molto VeLoce Circuit #231

A great night of R32 jousting and some very close battles in many heats, at the fabulous Molto Veloce. No grievous bodily harm, though 1 car did hurtle towards a Marshall (he remained unscathed) and onto the floor, surprisingly NOT faster afterwards…Better speak to KK to see what he does! 😉

I think my distraction contributed to the last rung of the podium for the 24 car….

Thanks for hosting AGAIN, fun fun fun….Better check the front yard ‘gravesite’, not sure if Jim O made it home…. 😉

    Great pics too!

I’ll get there for the session prior to racing, hopefully trigger finger will stay warm!

What a great evening, VERY spirited racing, some incredibly close battles in many heats, and clean racing too! The cars were superlative,  a joy to drive!

And thank you Santa Tschinkel, a red suit and white beard would have been appropriate, with all the goodies stuffed in your sack for the kids of Whoville, errrr I mean the Ring! :good: A great way to start the Christmas season :yahoo:

Looks like Deuces were wild in Can AM, and Crazy 8’s in 3L LM, wanted to be there, “Hockey night in Milton” intervened…Hopefully next time. Nice to see the ‘Italian Stallion’ back to the Ring, molto benne!!

And following up the follow up….I went to Games Workshop last week(Appleby Village), using Bill’s recommended colour suggestions as my palate(hehe). Evidently the naming convention has changed, and the store manager was good enough to complete a cross reference for me. Great guy (They call him ‘Tim’) :>)  showed me some painting/shading/dry brush techniques, and some other tips… He also told me the Hartland Centre is open 7 days if you’re jonesing for paint on a Sunday, and that they’re very helpful too. He also told me there is a free app you can get from them, take a picture of your object, and it will assess the appropriate Citadel colour. Maybe there is something good in Smartphones…See below :yahoo:

Great looking fields, and the nostalgia photos are a great homage to yesteryear…I am surprised the Gilles M23 ‘outrigger’ passed the eye of the scrutinizer….Perhaps an optical delusion of the photo

    Porsche911 registers Porsche 908 #17

    Danke!

It is with deep sadness that the Ecurie Lyons team must withdraw the Werks Porsche 908 #17 for this event, due to mechanical issues, likely unsolved by time of competition. However, the generosity of Henry Ford the umpteenth will allow Blue GT40II #6, Red GT40II#24, and Green GT40 #40 to participate in this event if the stewards allow.

Really looking forward to the event! And perhaps I’ll require a software ‘bracket tutorial’ at some time.

A little refinement followed…Gentlemens Sportscar racing, though in this event there was Monkey See, Monkey Drew, along with another Cheetah, JimO…Going fwd, the flagrant fouls will have to race in a USRC/SCCA type events as they evidently did NOT meet the requisite criteria, 6HR, 1000KM, 12 or 24HR race

As entrants had 2 cars in their teams, another contest followed, extremely closely contested! Nary .5 of a second between the Prancing Horse from Modena, and the Silver Stuttgart Scalpel   Classic LeMans were Porsche ruled Uber alles!   Grupen Funf closed out the evening, and phast and phrenetic it was, nothing could catch the Monster from Mampe, certainly NOT a Capricious Capri. ANd when all was done, the recent Joy of Christmas was still to be found… Thanks to all who attended! ANd forgive my humble and apparently feeble first time attempt at reportage on the site..

Apologies, for some reason, perhaps even ‘User error’, I couldn’t add GRP 5 result pic

Now added :>) And I guess I’ll just have to play around with adding pics, the ‘2nd’ sportscar shot is horizontal, not displayed as I’d saved it, vertically…

    A few additions

I will avoid wordplay temptation regarding the name of choice for the trophy, however it is very hard… 😉 But yes, very fun evening, as always!

Spa Lyons will look forward to hosting a similar event in the near future, also on a Friday evening.  As such, Team Ecurie Lyons would like to reserve # 2 for entry,  car(s) yet to be determined if the stewards shall allow.

    Danke, Merci, and thank you

A benefactor has approached the Ecurie Lyons team offering generous sponsorship, under the proviso they number at least one of their entries #2, therefore, management has elected to rescind #24, and would like #2 added in it’s place.

This thing on???? No commentary???? Hardly worth the time and effort to photo, re-size post etc…  😥 I guess we’re all a busy bunch…

As mentioned to race director Mr. Stroebel, I may have to retract based on son’s hockey playoff schedule.

Unfortunately, Ecurie Lyons must retract the team entry.

Enjoy racing at MVL, great to see it in the rotation once again! :yahoo:

Arghhhhhhhhhh, would love to learn at this 1, but too much to do before Holiday…

Hi Art, Is it the blue with Orange “Arrows”? What’s in it, and what’s the ask?

Would love to add a fine ‘D’Art creation to my collection. I sent you an e-mail, please answer there.

    Thanks!

Due to there being only a gruesome twosome registered, and a survey of other potential pilots, which has determined that this event unfortunately will be CANCELLED. :negative:

Hopefully the next Spa session will fare better.

Thanks for hosting Art, some great duels, and was fun racing several cars that haven’t seen the road for quite a while…Shagwar, Rainbow Warrior, Little White Corvette, and Fantastic plastic Ferrari!! ANd now to find a home for the Wing of Doom :good:

Thanks Art for hosting, nice to get the trigger finger going again, been a while…And though James Coburn was great with a knife in a gunfight, a 21.K is no match for a 25 on the Ring…Need to catch me a Shark! 😉

    in reply to: R32 XXXII @ Spa Lyons – November 11, 2019 #12918

Well put Ken, however, the demands of Spa warrant at least 2, ideally 3 Marshall’s as a minimum, so glad we’ll have 2 for sure. I have invited a guest racer, who has spun many laps at Spa, and is pretty darn quick and consistent, so hopefully he’ll make the pilgrimage, from across the street!

Looking forward!! Now to tune some cars, scrub the dust off!!

    in reply to: R32 XXXII @ Spa Lyons – November 11, 2019 #12920

To clarify, R32 schedule/rules, Fantastic Plastic only, but bring what you’ve got, however, to answer question, slow motor only for SP.

Totally understood, and appreciate the heads up…seems I have the ‘Megaddon’ events..If you care to look at old R32 events here, there’s been Snowmeggadon, SLushmeggadon, Stormeggadon weatherwise, and 1 or 2 Argumagageddons too!! Next time we’ll see you here :good:

Hi lads, have been lurking but just not posting…Hard to believe 10 years of Spa, and alas, no racing here for the past 18+ months, but I think that may change before the New Year, stay tuned, and stay well!

in reply to: R32 @ Spa Lyons #37852

Hi gents, apologies, late to the show here…Took a “webless weekend” :>) Yes, great to see Spa being enjoyed, some good jousts, a few spectator casualties, and we’ve now met Gary’s alter ego…The “Scarbourough Smasher”, he punches well above his weight, just ask my ‘ticket takers’… :>)

No worries, they’ve been released from the Scalextric Trackside Infirmary and will not have any life altering issues. We also now know that MiA may be missing, but when he does show up, he’s an hour early!! Hmmm, and about Pineapple on Pizza??? Big thank you to Art for capturing and posting the pics!!

in reply to: Alfa Romeo at the 1954 Carrera Panamericana #38282

JMS, you beat me to posting the link, found it yesterday also, was going to try and first find some history on the 67 ‘Stradale’ Spyder example on the site which intrigued me before posting, a beautiful car, see if it would be eligible for any of our classes…Alas, unless our resident ALfa-Holic voices to the contrary, my research today says it is NOT. :>( 18 cars only produced, NO race provenance. And yes, a non expert(moi) would say the 1955 rendering is pretty close…

Has anyone ordered from here? I read that there is a Caveat emptor stating the body may be somewhat ‘brittle’…

in reply to: Alfa Romeo at the 1954 Carrera Panamericana #38285

You don’t even need to filter….Just look at left pane, A-Z…A few caught my eye yesterday, Porsches of course!Always wanted a 909 Bergspyder, but the only resin I ever saw were UBER expensive, and and least from pics, looked very poor quality…

That is 1 Heavy Chevy!!!  How did you achieve the design detail/panels, looks AMAZING, assuming they’re a decal kit for this model? If it wasn’t included in kit, where’d you source?

in reply to: Large Scale Vintage Fun #39899

Lots goin on here…MiA with his Elves(thought the only 1’s you knew were ‘Keebler’) hahaha…Red White and Blue, Ol’ Glory looking great, and KRZ, excellent colour choice! The wheels are EXACTLY the style(Cragar or Torqthrust) that I’m trying to source, so our Art-ist extraordinaire can fashion sets for us. What gearing did you use. And for the Rosso R32 Classic Era Prototype & Sportscar class entry, better put some numbers on it, don’t want to be DQ’d off the top podium position. :>)

in reply to: Corvair progress, slowly…. #42637

FINALLY finished (well still have to complete exhaust), LOTS of fiddling trying to get ‘flat tray’ interior to accommodate S-can,  and though I didn’t want to SLAM to a low rider, wouldn’t have minded a wee bit less height overall… Initial shakedown is OK, won’t be a winner, home made roll bar likely weighs too much too, but looks DAMN good scooting around… 10X24 gearing on KRZ makes it smooth, perhaps get another, make into SCCA/USRRC Plus, will see after I finish the umpteen other(or at least a few) of other kits/chassis I have on the go…

in reply to: Corvair progress, slowly…. #42325

Hi gents, thanks for Kudos! After painstaking research, I determined that the Corvair did also participate in some Endurance racing, 1961 Kyalami, and 66 Daytona and 12HR Marlboro, there may be a few others that I cannot find conclusive evidence, so…..does that mean with FLY/Scaley 18K Motor I could participate in both Endurance Sportscar and SCCA/USRRC Plus?? Haven’t put in Motor yet but was only initially considering slow Motor SCCA/USRRC Sportscar. Happy either way, but would be nice to utilize in both. Opinions welcomed.

Yes, SLOTMODS produce some cool/gimmicky platforms for some of their creations, bespoke tracks for those with MEGA$$$$$$$…

they sold a “Porsche917” Lemans homage track on Bring a Trailer for a paltry $205 K US!! Very cool, but you’d thing they would have had period pit crews/mechanics/drivers in the Pit Lane!!!! We’re blessed with running on some of the finest tracks around, bar none, and I think we know someone that could build about 25+ for that kind of money!! :>)
